POTEKA will be adopted on the lightning detection network established for the project “Development of Extreme Weather Monitoring and Information Sharing System in the Philippines” promoted by Professor Yukihiro Takahashi of the Graduate School of Science, Hokkaido University. Approximately 60 units of POTEKA equipped with a lightning detection system will start the observation from FY2018. This project is carried out under International Science and Technology Cooperation Program SATREPS (Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development) promoted by JST (Japan Science and Technology Agency) and JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency).

This project is expected to implement a revolutionary forecasting technology by using advanced observation networks including satellite observations by microsatellites.

In addition, in the comprehensive observation campaign for this project, we are also planning an aircraft observation using our dropsonde.
