Issuance of GRUAN certificate for GPS Radiosonde RS-11G

Issuance of GRUAN

GRUAN has issued a certificate for GPS Radiosonde RS-11G and its data processing (GRUAN Data Product).

GRUAN’s purpose over the years has been to provide “accurate and uniform quality climate data” of the upper atmosphere. Therefore, the measuring instruments used for observation are required to have strict accuracy, and it is necessary to document and revise it in a format that can be verified by a third party. By observing with such equipment, we can not only understand the current state of the upper atmosphere, but also reevaluate the data currently acquired by the Meteorological Bureau and researchers.

Meisei Electric has been active in GRUAN since 2014, and is highly regarded as a manufacturer that provides GRUAN’s efforts toward the realization of a sustainable society such as SDGS and meteorological observation equipment. In these efforts, we believe it is very important to obtain a certificate that proves that our product quality is sufficient to withstand the observations we aim for.

In 2018, GRAUN released the “GRAUN Technical Document (GRAUN-TD-5)” which summarizes the evaluation results and technical information of the current flagship products, RS-11G and IMS-100. In 2019, we published a peer-reviewed paper summarizing the evaluation of RS-11G conducted by the Japan Meteorological Agency. As a result, at the ICM-11 GRUAN Annual Meeting in May 2019, we obtained the second GRUAN certification in the world. In addition to the certificate issued by GRUAN, a letter of appreciation for the cooperation of Japan Meteorological Agency and Meisei Electric was presented.

Meisei Electric will continue to contribute to the development of advanced meteorological observation technology.
