Japan is hit by typhoons almost every year. Although the prediction of the course has improved, there are problems in predicting “intensity” such as central pressure and wind speed, and researchers challenged the mission of rushing into the eyes of a typhoon with an aircraft and making direct observations. We are producing results one after another, such as acquiring atmospheric pressure data that leads to improved intensity prediction and discovering an unknown mechanism in the center of a typhoon.
The program approaches the forefront of typhoon intensity prediction.
Our dropsonde is used in the program.
