At COP26 (the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference) held in Glasgow in the northern part of the UK, we exhibited sPOTEKA, a meteorological observatory equipment for peatlands and forested lands.
At COP 26, many countries exchanged in heated discussions with the aim of achieving carbon neutral status (a state of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions achieved by balancing GHG emissions with its absorption). One of the main focuses was increasing forested land, which is expected to help absorb carbon dioxide. At the exhibition, many participants showed interest in the peatland forestation project by Sumitomo Forestry and IHI Corporation and MEISEI’s sPOTEKA, which is used to support this project.
As a member of the IHI Group, we will drive the effort to fully commercialize this initiative in cooperation with Sumitomo Forestry.
